We visited Rameswaram for the Ramanathaswamy temple which is a chaar dham and a jyotirling. The temple is famous for its corridors, 1212 of them. But for those visiting the temple for the first time, please be aware that the temple is wet due to the 22 tanks inside where people take a bath. So, elderly people and children need to be monitored inside because it can get slippery!
Unlike other destinations, not too many places to eat in Rameswaram. We had our food in Ahaan, in Daiwik Hotels. A very nice place to eat. Daiwik Hotels is a new hotel in Rameswaram and I think its the best there.
We loved the view from the pamban bridge. Dhanuskodi is a must see. This is where the confluence of the 2 oceans takes place. Infact, the whole of Rameswaram is marked by many teerthams where Rama and laxmana visited in their quest to find Sita. If you are interested in the historicity of the place, then all these places are worth a visit. Once such was viloondi teertham....there is a sweet water well in the middle of the ocean, and according to legend, was created by the arrow of Lord Rama !
